MAN Mapping Summit starts today!Posted: 5 Jun, 2016
Here’s a reminder about our mapping summit events, starting today 3-6. A light dinner will be served every day, you can eat for free, pay timebank hours, pay sliding scale. We’ll have child care available most evenings, definitely today 3-6 and Tue and Thur 5-7. Tue and Thur focus on making our poshterity budgets and enjoyable life design, respectively. We want to make it really easy for busy people to drop in and check it out.
Mutual Aid Network mapping summit starts Sunday June 5, 3-6 at Art In, 1444 E. Washington.
Here’s the schedule and a flyer about the entire week-long event. And the partner request letter. Please feel free to share widely
Kids or anyone who wants to learn any part of this are welcome at any of the events, especially the work sessions Mon – Fri 2-4. I have no idea how the work flow will go but that’s something to learn too, how people create their own work flow. This whole effort is about redesigning work so we’re doing a bit of that as we go.
Mutual Aid Networks (MANs) are a new type of networked cooperative ‘creating means for everyone to discover and succeed in work they want to do, with the support of their community,’ and were born out of a research and development project of the Dane County TimeBank (project name Time For the World). The Social Justice Center is a convening partner in exploring creating Madison’s second MAN pilot site (Allied Community Coop is the first).
We’ll be mapping resource distribution in Madison and a little beyond, how better resource sharing and exchange can result in more equitable distribution right away, how we can use some creative cooperative wealth redistribution and work generation tools to provide a basic human livelihood to everyone, and how we can start building a future where we have good lives, good work, and ownership and agency in our own communities.
I hope you can participate. And please share this widely.
